Take Back The Night Rally and March is an event that has been designed  to bring awareness to ending violence against women. Take Back The Night events are generally held during October, which has been recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Take Back The Night Rallies began as a response to sexual assault, rape, domestic violence, and murder, and continue to be held all over the United States, Europe, Canada, Latin America, and India.

Take Back The Night at Fresno State is organized and sponsored mainly by Women’s Alliance.  The Women’s Resource Center and the Women’s Studies Program also take on many responsibilities in organizing this event.

Planning and Organizing Take Back The Night is a key factor in ensuring the success of this event. Past experience has shown that the sooner organizing begins for Take Back The Night, the better.

In recent years, Take Back The Night has been held the last Wednesday in October during the evening. Women’s Alliance organizes events during the month of October leading up to this event that bring attention to effects of domestic violence and sexual assault. Please see examples of previous Take Back The Night events.

During the last two years, those organizing Take Back The Night found it helpful to use a form that lists what needs to be done, who is responsible for what task, and due date. (See example) It is crucial to have all this valuable information organized so that certain tasks don’t get skipped or overlooked.
