STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

BY ALPHABETICAL ORDER (O-P):  

ORDER OF OMEGA:
(May, 2000) To recognize outstanding leadership in the Greek community.

ORGANIZATION OF PHYSICAL THERAPY STUDENTS:
(October, 1982) To provide an organization for interaction of students majoring in Physical Therapy and Pre-Physical Therapy.

PANHELLENIC COUNCIL:
(1954) To maintain on a high plane sorority life and inter-sorority relations within our college.  It is to further find intellectual accomplishment and sound scholarship, to cooperate with the college administration in the maintenance of high social standards and to compile rules governing rushing, pledging, and initiation on the campus.

PEOPLE ORGANIZED FOR WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT AND REPRESENTATION:
(March, 2004) To garner visibility for the Women's Studies Program and to provide a forum for the empowerment of women's lives and potential.

PERCUSSION ORGANIZATION:
(September, 2006) To provide students with the opportunity to study and perform the major literature composed for and techniques pertaining to percussion instruments.  Students will interact directly with the percussion faculty, cultivating an environment conducive to professional attitudes in rehearsal and performance.

PERMIAS:
(December, 1981) To bring together all Indonesian students and any other people desiring to join the group in exploring the culture, music, arts, and food of Indonesian, and promoting fellowship among members through various activities and events, such as cultural, social, educational and recreation.

PERSIAN CLUB:
(May, 2004) To provide students with opportunities for association and interaction with the faculty and administration of California State University, Fresno and to familiarize students with Iran's history, culture, serve to unite the Iranians on and off campus, and to provide a platform from which students can interact with members of other cultures, pooling their backgrounds to create a greater breadth of understanding.

PHI ALPHA DELTA:
(September, 2005) To form a strong bond uniting students and teachers of the law with members of the Bench and Bar in a fraternal fellowship designed to advance the ideals of liberty and equal justice under law; to stimulate excellence in scholarship; to inspire the virtues of compassion and courage; to foster integrity and professional competence; to promote the welfare of its members; and to encourage their moral, intellectual, and cultural advancement; so that each member may enjoy a lifetime of honorable professional and public service.

PHI ALPHA THETA:
(November, 2002) To encourage and promote the study and understanding of history.

PHI LAMBDA RHO:
(October, 1994) To promote high academic achievement in all members; to provide community service; to enhance the social and leadership skills of the members.

PHI MU:
(1951) To foster, develop and perpetuate the bonds of friendship, with emphasis at all times upon those spiritual qualities essential to effective living.

PHILOSOPHY CLUB:
(February, 1985) To promote interest and learning in philosophy.

PI GAMMA MU:
(May, 2006) To encourage scholarship in the social sciences.

PI KAPPA ALPHA:
(September, 1989) To advance the educational and literary interests of its members, to promote social intercourse and to make, maintain and uphold a high standard of life and happiness for its members by uniting them in closer bonds of friendship and brotherly union.

PI SIGMA EPSILON:
(February, 1965) To create a collegiate brotherhood of men/women who are interested in the advancement of marketing, selling and sales management as a career and a profession.

POETRY JAM:
(October, 2004) To provide a place for self expression, critical thinking and artistic value while promoting cultural diversity, awareness of the importance of honoring each others' race, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation.  We are also set up to provide students with opportunities for association and interaction with the faculty and administration of California State University, Fresno and to instill the desire for self-improvement, scholastic excellence and the cultivation of civic responsibility.

POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION:
(December, 2000) To provide students with opportunities to associate with other students, faculty, government officials, and community members.

PRE-PHARMACY CLUB:
(March, 2001) To provide pre-pharmacy students with the opportunity to interact with like-minded peers as well as to inform and educate students about career options and academic requirements for pharmacy schools.

PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION:
(April, 1987) To unite communication majors, minors, faculty, and staff with the entire student body of Fresno State; blending both academic and social functions in order to allow members access to career opportunities, new networks of contacts, participation in lectures held by guest speakers, and enhancing the overall education experience of the students.

PSI CHI / PSYCHOLOGY STUDENT UNION:
(September, 1962)  To advance the science of psychology; encourage, stimulate, and maintain scholarship of the individual members of the organization in all areas of psychological science.

PUBLIC RELATIONS STUDENT SOCIETY OF AMERICA:
(March, 2000) To provide students with variable professional resources and contacts that are necessary to excel in the Public Relations field.

PUNJABI SOCIETY:
(February, 2007) To help students become aware and/or get a better understanding of the Punjabi culture, religion, community and help students relate to others like them to aid in their belonging at the University and in a society where Punjabi students are faced with decisions that conflict with American and Punjabi culture.
