Associated Students of Fresno State provides a means for responsible and effective participation in the governance of the campus. It serves as an official voice through which students may express their opinions and assists in the protection of the rights and interests of the individual student and the student body. The Associated Students Senate consists of the three executive officers – student body president, executive vice president, and vice president of finance – and 21 senators. There is one senator for each of the eight schools, one for undeclared majors, one for the Division of Graduate Studies, and eleven at-larges. AS is a nonprofit corporation chartered by the trustees of The California State University. As a student, you are automatically a member of AS. Your AS fees support many programs, such as the campus newspapers, University Lecture Series, child care centers, intramural sports activities, and a variety of multicultural festivals and programs. The campus considers the Associated Students as being the sole major student government office. All other student organizations are defined as having minor representation.
