University 1: An Introduction to the University
University 1 presents
strategies for keeping ahead academically, managing time effectively, and
graduating on schedule. The course helps build self-confidence and an
enhanced ability to set goals and explore career options. It is designed to
expand intellectual horizons and acquire the necessary tools for future
success by providing structures and activities that illustrate the
relationship between psychological, sociological, and physiological

University 20: Academic Learning Studies
University 20 focuses on learning and applying
effective study habits in a seminar class setting. This course is targeted
to students who are interested in establishing successful study habits with
topics covered such as time management, goal setting, note taking, test
taking and academic accountability. This 3-unit course is often counted
towards graduation elective units.
Linguistics 40T: Academic Reading Strategies
Linguistics 40T is a skill-building course that will
focus on critical thinking skills such as lecture note-taking and listening
skills, building a broader academic vocabulary, and reading strategies for
college. (This class will be change to Linguistics 5 starting
in the Fall 2006 semester.)
