Student Welcome

From the earliest inquiry about the admission process to enrollment, graduation and beyond, International Student Services and Programs (ISSP) is the key resource for international students at Fresno State. Students remark that their university years are the best in their lives and they recall the reasons their time in Fresno was so special.

The office arranges for students to be welcomed at the airport when they first arrive and assists students with home stays and orientation prior to their first semester.

Our multicultural staff assists with:

  • immigration and personal advising
  • cultural adjustment
  • academic, social, financial, and vocational problem solving
  • personal issues

The students on the campus are very diverse; international students feel they are part of the community shortly after arriving and they make friends with people from all over the world.

Fresno State offers a comprehensive list of majors taught by excellent faculty who enjoy teaching and taking time to get to know their students.

The campus is like a small city with many facilities on campus (bowling alley, bank, theatre, event center, library, health center, residence halls, post office, et cetera) in a beautiful park-like atmosphere. It is a pleasure to walk across campus or sit on the grass and appreciate the beauty of the trees and flowers.

Fresno offers a quality of life unique to the rest of California. Fresno is affordable and within easy traveling distance to major urban areas and recreational areas, and the weather is almost perfect. People are friendly and willing to help a student in need.

International students are supported by the International Student Services and Programs office which provides a fast-paced orientation program where new students make friends; become comfortable on the campus; and meet American families, faculty and staff. International students have many opportunities to share their cultures through the Exploring Global Diversity International Coffee Hour series and International Culture Night.
